Christen Harper Downplays Rams Rivalry Ahead of Week 15 Clash
As the Lions prepared for their Week 15 showdown, Jared Goff’s wife, Christen Harper, shared her candid thoughts on the long-discussed rivalry between Detroit and the Los Angeles Rams—Goff’s former team. Speaking in an interview with Us Weekly, Harper made it clear that any lingering tension from Goff’s Rams days has largely faded.
According to Harper, the matchup no longer carries the emotional weight it once did. Goff has now spent more time in Detroit than he ever did in Los Angeles and has appeared in more games wearing a Lions uniform than a Rams jersey. Because of that, the past feels distant rather than personal.
She explained that the situation now feels like something that has long been put to rest. From her perspective, the chapter with the Rams closed a while ago, and the emotions tied to it simply aren’t the same anymore.
Despite Harper’s comments, Detroit struggled in the game, suffering a lopsided loss to Los Angeles shortly after her interview made headlines.
Life as a New Mom During Football Season
Beyond football, Harper also opened up about a major change in her personal life—becoming a first-time mother. She spoke warmly about watching Goff bond with their daughter, Romy, even though his demanding NFL schedule has kept him busy for much of her early life.
Harper shared that Romy lights up whenever Goff walks through the door, greeting him with big smiles and laughter. While she jokingly admitted a bit of playful jealousy, she emphasized how special it is to see them together. She’s looking forward to the offseason, when Goff will have more time at home with their daughter.
At the same time, Harper acknowledged that motherhood has its challenges, particularly with Goff focused on football throughout the season. Balancing parenting with the realities of professional sports hasn’t been easy, but it’s been rewarding nonetheless.
Lions’ Playoff Hopes Take a Hit
On the field, the Rams’ victory dealt a significant blow to Detroit’s playoff aspirations. While the Lions’ chances aren’t entirely gone, the path forward has become far more difficult. Still, many fans remain hopeful that the team can rally late in the season.
Head coach Dan Campbell addressed the loss head-on, taking accountability and stressing the need for improvement. He admitted the team hasn’t reached the level required to win consistently but believes progress is still possible.
Campbell emphasized that dwelling on the loss won’t help. Instead, he urged the team to learn from it and move forward quickly, noting that self-pity has no place if the Lions want to stay competitive. Meanwhile, the Rams—led by Matthew Stafford—left the matchup with plenty to celebrate after securing their spot in the playoffs.
