Lions Plan to Seek League Explanation Following Disputed Rams Touchdown
The Detroit Lions intend to reach out to the NFL league office regarding a controversial decision made during their loss to the Los Angeles Rams.
The play in question involved Rams tight end Colby Parkinson, whose touchdown reception was upheld despite replay angles suggesting his knee may have touched the ground before the ball crossed the goal line.
Head coach Dan Campbell told reporters Monday that he has not received any detailed clarification from officials beyond confirmation that the ruling on the field remained unchanged.
“We’re going to ask about it,” Campbell said when questioned about whether the team had gotten additional explanation. “But all we were told was that the call stood. That’s really all we got.”
Detroit Focused on Winning Out to Keep Playoff Hopes Alive
Following the loss, the Lions now face a difficult path to the postseason. Detroit must win each of its remaining three games to keep its playoff hopes intact, while also needing favorable outcomes from teams ahead of them in the standings — potentially including the Packers and Bears.
Despite the circumstances, Campbell emphasized that his message to the locker room has not changed.
“It’s about going back to work,” Campbell said. “Don’t worry about the ‘what ifs.’ We have to win. That’s it. We wanted to win Week 1, Week 2, and every week since. This one’s no different.”
He added that execution and trust will be critical down the stretch.
“Put in the work. Lock in on the details. Trust the guy next to you to do his job, and you do yours the best way you possibly can. That’s how we’re going to find a way to win.”
Robertson’s Status Uncertain Ahead of Steelers Matchup
Detroit is also monitoring the health of cornerback Amik Robertson, who is nursing a hand injury. Campbell said the team is optimistic Robertson could be available for the upcoming game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, but his status remains unclear.
“I’m hopeful,” Campbell said. “We should know more in the next couple of days.”
The Lions will evaluate Robertson’s condition during practice this week to determine whether the injury limits him.
“It’s a hand issue, so it could affect him,” Campbell explained. “We think there’s a chance he can play, but until we get through practice, we won’t know for sure.”
Robertson briefly exited the Rams game due to the injury but was able to return and finish the contest.
