Things can change in life very rapidly. That’s what Lukasey Morris is experiencing. He was driving between rodeos in Rapid City, South Dakota, last summer when his automobile broke down.

Morris lacked the resources at the time to maintain the car and carry on with his competitive rodeoing. Instead, he decided to load up with pals and leave the car at a South Dakota shop until he could take care of the situation.

Morris took a few days off between rodeos over a year later, which he used to return to South Dakota and pick up his now-repaired automobile.

There is no denying that things have improved. Morris said, “We’re dang sure going in the right direction.” “To be honest, I basically moved to a place where I could spend the money and yet feel comfortable rodeoing. It actually kind of worked out.

Morris’s rodeo trip has picked up steam in recent weeks, culminating in a big weekend in Wyoming, which undoubtedly made reclaiming his property easier.

The high point was when he teamed up with Phenom Genetics’ bull Risky Business and Sankey Pro Rodeo in the Sheridan WYO Rodeo. Morris had viewed one film of the bull in action against Hayes Wade in Logandale, Nevada, prior to his ride.

Since Hayes and I are pretty good friends, I questioned him about himself and he basically informed me a few steps ahead of time. And basically, it was all I knew when I started,” Morris remarked. Risky Business had been ridden by Hayes to 88 points.

Morris performed even better, winning the Sherdian title with 89 points. The victory was but a small part of his supremacy in Wyoming. Morris also won the Laramie Jubilee Days Xtreme Bulls competition on Thursday, scoring 87 points against Burch Rodeo’s Cookies and Cream. The earnings from the two events added up to $13,013 in total.

Morris is still rising in the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association World Standings, and this is another big step forward for him.

Morris’s second season didn’t go as expected; he finished at 27th in the rankings after qualifying for the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo and receiving Resistol Rookie of the Year in 2022.

A few weeks prior, he was shakily ranked in the top 25. His profits at the Greeley, Colorado, Stampede and the Oakley, Utah, Xtreme Bulls Tour propelled him into the 12th position, surpassing $80,500 prior to the weekend. The most recent victories will only serve to maintain the momentum, both physically and symbolically.

“Right now, my confidence is through the ceiling. All I want to do is keep it going. Morris stated, “I might as well just keep it going if I can jump 10 spots in a week even though my body is a little banged up.”
