Barrhead County resident Doug (Larry) Petherbridge has been inducted as the 2024 Pro Rodeo Legend by the Canadian Historical Hall of Fame. Brenda Vold, director of the Rodeo Hall of Fame, said, “People nominate people and ten directors meet once a year to choose the inductee.” Remarkable cowboys who have had a noteworthy career but have not won a Canadian championship are elevated to legend status. According to Gene Miller, another member of the rodeo hall of fame, Petherbridge competed in two of the most difficult events in rodeo: bareback riding and bull riding.
According to Miller, Petherbridge continued to be active in rodeo after he ceased competing, serving as a board member and performing some judging.
Many friends offered their congratulations.

By honoring cowboys, animals, and builders who have attained distinction in their disciplines, they hope to honor the history of rodeo.
