Although the Dallas Cowboys have consistently had some of the most intriguing franchise tales in the NFL, it’s nearly hard to guess what Jerry Jones and company will come up with in 2024.

If you pay attention to Jones, he continues to support his claim that Dallas is going “all in” in 2024 in an attempt to win another Lombardi Trophy and eventually overcome their playoff disadvantage.

After the Cowboys were eliminated from the playoffs early, that reasoning made sense. Their franchise quarterback, Dak Prescott, was leading the MVP conversation for the majority of the season and ended 2023 with one of his finest statistical seasons as a pro.

They had a team full of talent on both sides of the ball. The Dallas Cowboys had a perfect home record going into the playoffs as the No. 2 seed.

However, Dallas choked in the opening round of the playoffs, losing to a youthful Green Bay Packers club that had just about sneaked into the postseason, as anyone with a pulse has come to anticipate.

After the defeat, there were doubts about whether Jerry Jones would take big action, but he didn’t. He declared that Prescott was the team’s starting quarterback going forward and kept head coach Mike McCarthy on board until 2024.

The Dallas Cowboys were expected by almost every NFL Insider to offer Dak Prescott a contract extension in order to clear financial space and sign new players in free agency.

However, Jones hasn’t taken any action and is allowing Prescott to finish out his remaining year on his deal. However, there are concerns about what lies ahead for the Cowboys’ other two standout players, Micah Parsons and CeeDee Lamb.

It is now anticipated that before the 2024 season begins, Lamb will rank among the NFL’s top paid wide receivers. After this season, it appears hard to keep the team’s three superstars together on the roster due to Prescott’s ever-increasing price tag.

That’s why one former Cowboys scout believes Parsons could be traded.

Former Dallas Cowboys Scout Believes Micah Parsons Will Be Traded

If Prescott does not accept less money, former Cowboys scout Bryan Broaddus thinks the front office would look into a blockbuster deal for Parsons.

The veteran NFL scout clarified that by transferring the standout defensive, Dallas would save money and gain a substantial amount of draft capital. In an interview with the podcast “Love of the Star” on July 19, 2024, the former Dallas Cowboys scout said, ”

[Prescott] could offer them a solution to try and get things done [by taking less money].” “I see Micah Parsons possibly being traded from this organization if they don’t do that.”

I suppose there’s fire where there’s smoke, and there seems to be a lot of smoke surrounding Micah Parsons at the moment. Even though he is the least likely to have to deal with it in his contract. You can utilize tags and other such items.

If it makes sense, my instinct tells me he could bring in the highest draft capital of the three players in a trade. Entering his final season of a four-year rookie contract for $17 million, Parsons is a player. Parsons’ fifth-year option for 2025 has already been selected by the Dallas Cowboys.

As a result, Parsons’ contract is extended for a minimum of two more seasons, and Dallas may utilize the franchise tag on the player in 2027. The problem is that Parsons will eventually have to be compensated.

Maurice Moton of Bleacher Report predicted that Parsons would sign a $200 million contract with a five-year option that includes a $130 million guarantee. “The Dallas Cowboys will probably have to approve a record-setting deal to satisfy his contract demands if he wins 2024 Defensive Player of the Year,”

Moton wrote in an article published on July 16 under the headline “Projecting Contracts for NFL Players Who Could Reset Major Position Markets in 2025.”

Furthermore, Parsons can affect the game in a variety of ways as an off-ball linebacker and edge-rusher. Parsons knows he will soon receive his large salary, so he isn’t concerned about a contract extension.

Taking everything into account, it seems unfeasible for the Dallas Cowboys to hold onto all three of their stars, meaning that one of them won’t be playing for the team come playoff time.
