The Dallas Cowboys have a big game on Tuesday. Most of them are headed to California. The Dallas Morning News revealed on Tuesday morning that Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb will not be traveling with the team to Oxnard.

Prescott is reportedly already in the region, but Lamb has spent the entire summer negotiating a contract with the organization, so Prescott is involved, to be clear. The majority of BTB didn’t anticipate his arrival, but here we are.

On Tuesday, the Cowboys charter departs for Southern California. The team is expected to arrive at their training facility later in the afternoon, having taken a bus from that location to Oxnard.

Prescott isn’t going to be traveling. Prior to the team’s arrival, he has been in the vicinity exercising. Lamb won’t be on the airplane either. Officials at the club don’t think he’ll report until an extension is worked out.

It’s challenging to estimate when the standoff will be broken. The Cowboys’ offseason plan excluded Lamb.

Following a shocking playoff loss to Green Bay, the Cowboys fan base appeared to become more and more resentful, and this feeling was exacerbated by the receiver’s absence as well as the seasoned talent that was leaving in free agency.

It is explicitly mentioned that Lamb won’t appear until a deal is finalized, so please also file this under “not at all shocking”. At least based on the DMN’s conversation with team officials.

We have undoubtedly discussed this topic numerous times in regards to when all of this might possibly be settled. The team is actually leaving for training camp on this day.

Although it’s not a deadline by any means, this is an important day that has months of opportunities ahead of it. This no longer makes sense from a logical standpoint.

The Cowboys are lucky, to be honest, that Lamb is the only player who appears to be about to hold out during training camp.

Micah Parsons and/or Dak Prescott may push that boundary in terms of their individual contract circumstances if they so choose.

Jerry Jones would have addressed this during the team’s yearly opening press conference from camp, but that was suddenly rescheduled from Wednesday to Saturday.

There’s no denying that this will continue to be a talking point until it stops being one. In the interim, Mike McCarthy will have to answer inquiries about it by himself.

If remedies are found, stories like this one can disappear swiftly, as seen by Trevon Diggs’ extension from the previous year.

At the time, Zack Martin was holding out, so it was a breath of fresh air. Regarding Diggs, it was announced on Monday that he will go to camp as a PUP.

Team officials are optimistic that Mazi Smith and Luke Schoonmaker will not be added to the list themselves, according to the DMN article that accompanied the Lamb news.

Diggs will start training on the PUP list, but defensive tackle Mazi Smith (shoulder surgery) and tight end Luke Schoonmaker (hamstring) may be cleared to play, according to club officials. The team’s participation in both will probably be limited when they start later this week.
