Three key members of the Dallas Cowboys are up for new contracts, but one of the team’s all-time greats doesn’t think Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb, or Micah Parsons are going about things the proper way.

Michael Irvin isn’t buying it, even after Cowboys owner Jerry Jones declared the team was “all-in” during the summer. Irvin informed The Star-Telegram’s Clarence E. Hill, “They haven’t done anything.”

Ever since the Cowboys’ crushing home loss to the Green Bay Packers in the NFC Wild Card playoffs in January, they have lost All-Pro tackle Tyron Smith and developing center Tyler Biadasz to free agency.

As training camp gets underway, it appears that talks on new contracts for Prescott, Parsons, and Lamb have come to a standstill. “Who you’re paying is the biggest issue,” Irvin remarked.

“We are going to choose three persons whose names I frequently hear in the media: Micah Parsons, CeeDee, and Dak. We also hear Micah’s people discussing in the media or Micah himself.

“We are going to pay the world’s greatest money to our top three guys. Additionally, their relatives (are) in the media constantly using profanity.

It’s challenging to be there. It seems to be telling me that you are going to provide money to three guys who aren’t even dating. Naturally, Irvin won three Super Bowls with the Cowboys during their most recent championship run, which ended with the 1996 Lombardi Trophy after a victory against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

There’s little doubt the Cowboys will pay Prescott, Lamb, and Parsons if they think they can eventually emerge as a new core to go past the divisional round of the playoffs and win a Super Bowl.

Micah Parsons Sounds Off on Contract Uncertainty

It wouldn’t be shocking if the Cowboys decide to pay Parsons among the top salaries in the league at some point, given his status as the defensive line’s mainstay and one of the best players at a premium position.

According to ESPN’s Todd Archer, Parsons stated, “If you kind of figure out how the money goes and how the contract goes.” “That business side is something you kind of get. CeeDee, in my opinion, is worth two or three players.

You’re talking about an annual salary of over $30 million. How are you going to pay CeeDee Lamb if you do that? stated Parsons. That might continue for other guys.

“My perspective is that we have seven All-Pros, or however many there are. We have at least three people that I know are capable of being All-Pros, so it might be more or less.

Many guys, in my opinion, will have breakthrough years. It, in my opinion, also has an impact. “Hey, when are the other guys going to step up and be better for the team?” is what you end up asking when you talk about all these guys.

Coming off a great year at one of the most important positions on an NFL squad, Parsons added 64 total tackles and capped the 2023 season with a career-high 14 sacks.
