Wade Marshall (Invercargill, New Zealand) won the Lacombe Pro Bull Riding on Saturday night in Lacombe, Alberta.

Marshall rode to victory with the highest-marked ride of the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Canada Touring Pro Division event.

Marshall wasted little time in seizing his second chance at glory, even though Day N Night (Shay Marks) defeated him in Round 1 in 3.87 seconds. He advanced to the championship round on schedule.

In the championship round, the Kiwi faced Smooth Sailor (Shay Marks). Marshall easily achieved the necessary 8 in what turned out to be a perfect combination, earning an event-high 87 points to secure the win.

Marshall’s golden finish won him 46 national points, which was very important. Marshall moved up from No. 28 to No. 22 in Canada in the competition for the 2024 PBR Canada Championship and its $100,000 bonus.

Toby Adams, from Mendooran, New South Wales, Australia, finished in second place after riding Lord Fear (Vold Rodeo) for 86.5 points. With 33 national points, Adams rose from the unranked to the 34th spot in Canada.

Third was Dixon Tattrie (Youngstown, Alberta, Canada).

Tattrie scored 22 national points by riding the Hanan Motors Broken Halo (Skori Bucking Bulls) for 85.5 points. He moved up two spots, from No. 22 to No. 20, in the Canadian rankings.

Tyler Craig of Crossfield, Alberta, the reigning PBR Canada National Finals event winner, finished fourth. He received eighteen national points for his 85-point ride atop the Whiskey Clouds (Skori Bucking Bulls).

This November, while pursuing his first PBR Canada Championship, Craig moved up from No. 11 to No. 10 in the rankings, cracking the Top 10. He is currently 650.84 points behind top scorer Cody Coverchuk of Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan.

Rounding out the Top 5 in fifth was Coy Robbins (Camrose, Alberta).

The standout performance of the 2017 PBR Canada Rookie of the Year in Lacombe was his 83-point ride on Day Thuggin, which won Round 1. (Shay Marks). In the tournament held in his home province, Robbins received 21 national points.

He was still ranked 16th in Canada. Broken Pearl (Kinky Buckers) defied expectations and emerged victorious as the Bull of the Event in the bull pen.

In the championship round, the formidable animal athlete outperformed Wyatt Gleeson (Sundre, Alberta) by recording an unparalleled 43.5-point score for his 4.31 seconds of work.

Tofield Western Days in Tofield, Alberta, on Thursday, August 8, 2024, marks the start of the PBR Canada season for the Touring Pro Division.
