Jerry Jones, the owner of the Dallas Cowboys, is optimistic that he will sign wide receiver CeeDee Lamb to a contract.
Given that Lamb and quarterback Dak Prescott get along well, Jones was questioned about the significance of having Lamb on the club in an interview with Nick Harris of DallasCowboys.com.
The amount of effort they put in together this summer is great. They took a long time to… As a result, I won’t be concerned about skipping a few sessions at the beginning of the season,”
Jones stated. There is still a lot of time left; it will only take six months to secure a spot in the Green Bay game. But they’ve collaborated on a lot of projects.
We were thrilled to draft CeeDee because it meant he had surrendered to us. For the franchise, he has been everything and more.
He is a player who offers you numerous options to move the ball with him throughout a play. He’s a good player, and my goal is for us to do something.
Lamb is not at training camp with the team right now and is about to enter the final year of his rookie contract. With the Cowboys, the 25-year-old just finished his best season yet, catching 135 catches for 1,749 yards and 12 touchdowns.
Lamb wants to be the NFL’s highest-paid player who isn’t a quarterback. After agreeing to a four-year, $140 million contract deal during the offseason, wide receiver Justin Jefferson of the Minnesota Vikings is currently the highest paid wide receiver.
Wide receiver A.J. Brown of the Philadelphia Eagles signed a three-year, $96 million contract extension this year. Furthermore, Amon-Ra St. Brown of the Detroit Lions inked a four-year contract deal in April for little more than $120 million.
How big of a contract will CeeDee Lamb sign?
Lamb could receive nearly $32 million a year with a guaranteed $100 million if he signs an extension. Jeremy Fowler of ESPN discussed in June the possibility that Lamb will receive a contract identical to Jefferson’s.
“This is an intriguing deal because, according to someone with knowledge of the negotiations, this player has assembled a body of work spanning four years, which speaks for itself and the market speaks for itself,”
Fowler stated on SportsCenter. “At wide receiver, Justin Jefferson is putting up a tremendous number at $35 million annually. It remains to be seen whether Lamb can surpass it, but given his past performance, he will most likely need to come very near to that figure.
