Although Dak Prescott is still bound by his contract with the Dallas Cowboys, he is being realistic with himself and has his sights set on the future.

Prescott understands that he can only control what he can control—playing for the team he presently has a contract with—because the NFL is an ever-changing industry. In an interview with Fox 4, Prescott stated, “It’s not something I look for, or prepare, even plan for, but if something like that happens, I’ll certainly be ready for it.”

Although Prescott stated that he and Jerry Jones, the owner of the Cowboys, have talked about finalizing a deal, the quarterback isn’t overly concerned about it at this time.

Prescott remarked, “I’m really confident, but to be honest, I don’t think about it.” “This year is my main priority as I attend training camp here. All I actually worry about is my contract, which is valid for this year only.

Although Dak Prescott has spent his whole NFL career with the Cowboys, things don’t stay the same in the league. Prescott’s life experiences outside of football have enabled him to view situations differently throughout his career.

Prescott remarked, “Having a child alters your perspective on life a little bit.” Numerous quarterbacks have experience playing for different teams. That’s just the way this game works and who we are. It’s not that I’m unaware of that.

Prescott deserves every dollar he requests, even though it’s unclear if he and the Cowboys will be able to reach an agreement—especially after he had his finest season to date last year. Having thrown for 4,516 yards and leading the NFL in completions and touchdown passes, Prescott came in second to Lamar Jackson in the MVP voting.

Despite his career-long excellence, Prescott has yet to win an NFC Championship Game and go to the Super Bowl. The Cowboys appear to have the talent to win every year, but they never manage to pull through.

The Green Bay Packers surprised the Dallas Cowboys in the previous season’s Wild Card stage of the playoffs. Although Prescott completed the game with a 403-yard pass for three touchdowns and two interceptions, the Cowboys defense was the one who caused them the most damage.

When Prescott does get a new deal with the Cowboys or with another team, he’ll most likely be one of the top-paid quarterbacks in the league. Packer quarterback Jordan Love just recently signed a four-year, $220 million contract extension, making him one of the highest-paid quarterbacks in the league, and he’s just coming off of his first season as a starter.

Prescott will definitely bring Love, Trevor Lawrence, and Joe Burrow’s contracts to the table when it’s time for him to negotiate.
