Well, that’s typical for this franchise. The Dallas Cowboys put CeeDee Lamb on the bad list, but they haven’t improved Dak Prescott’s situation yet.

But in light of Ezekiel Elliott’s persuasive analysis regarding Dak’s contract uncertainty, there’s no cause for concern over the latter. The Cowboys running back discussed what will happen with Prescott going forward with ESPN’s Todd Archer.

Elliott remarked, “I don’t think it will affect him at all. He’s such a strong person mentally. Honestly, it might bring out the best in him, which I know Dak is going to give us his best anyway, but you get what I’m saying. I think a guy like Dak, who’s been through so much adversity in his life, every time (he has) stepped up to the plate and answered the call.”

Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott probably needs productive Prescott

What Elliott still has in the tank is a matter of much debate. After surpassing the four-year barrier in each of his first six NFL seasons, he averaged fewer than four years per carry.

Being 29 years old and having played in the league for eight years isn’t always a write-off. But Elliott was heavily utilized by the Cowboys, particularly at the beginning of his career. In his first four seasons, he carried more than 300 carries three times.

But Elliott only scored more than 1,000 yards once in his next three years in Dallas. Nevertheless, he continued to find the end zone, finishing the previous two seasons with double-digit touchdowns.

Elliott did not appear to be the same runner in New England in 2023. Perhaps this was more of a Patriots effect than Elliott’s, but Elliott will still require a potent passing attack to be effective in 2024.

McCarthy remarked, “Zeke has always been an extremely intelligent football player.” “Everyone is aware of his physical prowess and the production. For the most part of his career, the man has been a workhorse.

However, it’s been interesting to see him embrace the new protection scheme and the subtleties of our offense, which are completely different from what they were before he traveled to New England.

Plus, McCarthy said Elliott helps a lot in the locker room.

“To be honest, given everything he’s accomplished in this league, it’s just great to have him in the room,” McCarthy remarked.

“He’s a terrific teammate, which is one of his better qualities, in my opinion. His passion for the gym and for other people is contagious. It’s wonderful to have him back, then.
