Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is under pressure to find a solution regarding CeeDee Lamb’s contract.
Although quarterback Dak Prescott feels there is “urgency” to strike an extension with wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, the Dallas Cowboys do not.
When Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was questioned about Lamb—who has been holding out for a new contract for the past three weeks—he sparked controversy.
“I have no idea why I said that. I don’t feel pressure to finish it right away,” Jones remarked. Give any justification you like. Two days ago, I was at Nobu. Use that as justification.

Lamb saw Jones’ comments and replied on social media with a simple, “lol.” Prescott was shown Jones’ statement and backed his teammate.
“I got urgency for it to happen,” Prescott told reporters.
Prescott has previously discussed Lamb’s contract status in public. Lamb was cheerful during their conversation on July 29, Prescott’s birthday. “He expressed to me that he is eager and prepared to return,”
Prescott said to The Athletic on Friday, August 2. “I’m hoping that this gets resolved for him. I am aware of this. I’m hoping we can get him back as soon as possible. He’s grinding, I know. He’s working and itching, I know that. He is eager to rejoin the boys.
Prescott’s performance depends on Lamb being prepared for the upcoming season. Lamb is one of the best receivers in the league and his favorite target.
Lamb had a league-high 135 receptions for 1,749 yards and 12 touchdowns at the end of the previous campaign. Lamb was his main pass-catcher, which contributed to Prescott’s successful season.
With 4,516 passing yards, he led the NFL in completions (410) and touchdown passes (36). Prescott received the second-most votes for MVP..
Jones is trying to look at the bright side regarding Lamb missing time.
“Well, I don’t expect not to have CeeDee Lamb, but this camp has given … opportunities for the people who need it most,” Jones said.
“And that’s the ones that aren’t proven like CeeDee. So it’s a great plan to see your receiving corps and develop a receiving corps from the rookies.”
