In contrast to the San Francisco 49ers’ contract situation with wideout Brandon Aiyuk, the Dallas Cowboys could go from being a very good team to a non-playoff team if they end up losing wide receiver CeeDee Lamb because they cannot agree on an extension. Dak Prescott, the team’s quarterback, wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, and pass rusher Micah Parsons all need to get contract extensions soon.
Going a step further, former NFL receiver James Jones claimed that Lamb is the Cowboys’ offense and that his value to the team is almost equal to that of Prescott.
“We may be underestimating…” The value of CeeDee Lamb is immense, Jones stated on “Speak.” CeeDee is their offensive player and is roughly almost as valuable to them as Dak Prescott.
Unquestionably one of the top five wide receivers in the NFL, Lamb led the league in receptions, finished second in receiving yards, and finished third in receiving touchdowns the previous campaign.
In 2023, he was selected for the first time to the All-Pro First Team. He has appeared in the Pro Bowl in each of the last three seasons.
Despite their apparent star power, the Cowboys have several serious gaps in their roster, and one of them is the lack of depth and offensive punch at wide receiver behind Lamb.
They acquired Brandin Cooks in the summer with the expectation that he would develop into a reliable WR2, but he only gained 657 yards.
In addition to potentially sparking a protracted retooling process, Lamb’s decision to forego training camp in search of a new deal appears to be endangering the present Cowboys regime.
