Prior to the commencement of the 2024 NFL regular season, the Detroit Lions are finalizing a few matters. Handon Hooker, the team’s quarterback, had an injury recently after suffering a concussion during the preseason.

The backup quarterback position is critical to a team’s squad in the event that the starter gets hurt, even though it may not be as vital as the starting job. A seasoned quarterback has been signed by Detroit to cover for Hooker as he recovers from an injury.

Detroit Lions Sign Quarterback

In order to provide more depth at quarterback following Hooker’s injury, the Lions signed veteran Jake Fromm. The squad thinks Fromm can pick up the offensive plan fast, according to head coach Dan Campbell.

We had the impression that he would be able to pick up the offense quickly enough to be able to assist us when necessary. The decision to sign comes from the team’s desire to avoid using third-string quarterback Nate Sudfeld or starter Jarred Goff throughout the preseason.

Jake Fromm

Fromm started two games for the New York Giants after being selected by the Buffalo Bills in the 2020 NFL Draft. A few months ago, the Washington Commanders dismissed Fromm. In a recent press conference, Campbell appeared to have a high opinion of the seasoned quarterback.

We wanted someone who we thought could fit in the pocket, and luckily, he was free. We’ll see where it goes; he looked excellent after working out.

Throughout his career, the quarterback has completed 27 of 60 passes for 210 yards and one touchdown. Even though Fromm hasn’t had a lot of playing time in his career, Detroit seems to believe that he can play snaps behind center when necessary.

How do you think the Lions will do this season coming off of a great 2023-2024 campaign?
