A week after being waived by the Las Vegas Raiders, veteran quarterback Anthony Brown was claimed by the Buffalo Bills on August 20.

The team needed backup quarterbacks because Mitch Trubisky and Shane Buechele were out with injuries, so Brown had less than a week to prepare for the team’s August 24 preseason finale loss to the Carolina Panthers, which ended in a 31-26 score.

On August 25, one day before Tuesday’s final roster deadline, the Bills announced that they had waived Brown in the first round of cuts. This was despite Brown’s respectable performance against the Panthers.
