In advance of their Week 1 encounter at Ford Field on Sunday, the Detroit Lions and Los Angeles Rams have made their initial injury report public. The fact that tight end Sam LaPorta and running back Jahmyr Gibbs are not on the injury report suggests they were fully involved in practice, which is excellent news for the Lions. Despite having to cope with hamstring strains during the offseason, both players seem healthy and ready to go.

The Lions do, however, have some injury concerns. Defensive lineman D.J. Reader and safeties Ifeatu Melifonwu and Loren Strickland are included in the report. While Strickland practiced very little, Melifonwu and Reader did not practice at all. Head coach Dan Campbell gave encouragement over Melifonwu’s condition earlier this week, implying that he has a chance to play. In addition, Reader’s condition appears to be improving as the squad wants to see him return to the field as soon as possible. Regarding the Rams, we will provide you with updates as soon as their injury report is published. It has not yet been made public.

The Lions’ Wednesday injury report is seen here.
