Stephen A. Smith has prompted Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones to explain why CeeDee Lamb’s contract extension took so long to finalize.

The wide receiver agreed to a four-year, $136 million extension with Dallas, but the deal was not finalized until last week.

In a special edition of the Stephen A. Smith Show, which was streamed on YouTube, Smith questioned Jones about the delay and asked, “What took you so long?” Jones maintains he felt no urgency about the situation.

“There was never any question about how we felt CeeDee Lamb was as a football player or what he could do to help out this team,” Jones told the press.

“I don’t see any rewards or penalties on your timer for ‘does he get on the field, or is he on the field when he should be out there.’

During their one-on-one interview, Smith asked Jones about quarterback Dak Prescott, who is nearing the end of his contract and could become a free agent after this season.

His CeeDee Lamb Update “What he is as a person and as a quarterback will age well,” Jones assured us. “I believe it will age beautifully as he approaches the following five or ten years of his life. I believe he is the type of quarterback who will improve over time.

“We face the difficulty of not only recouping what we’ve spent on him over the last four years, but also adding it to what we’ll pay him in the future. “That is not Dak’s problem in the end; it is the Dallas Cowboys’ fault, since that money will not be available to spend on the supporting cast.
