Jerry Jones appears to be ready to focus on the Dallas Cowboys’ season opener rather than contract discussions.

Jerry Jones has spent the whole offseason discussing contract extensions, and it appears he is ready to move on. Jones, who leads the Dallas Cowboys, responded to inquiries about Dak Prescott’s contract status as the team prepares for Week 1 against the Cleveland Browns.

The runner-up for 2023 The NFL MVP enters the season with little security beyond this year, and it doesn’t appear that will change anytime soon. Or, at the very least, Jones will not discuss it with the media.

In addition to Prescott entering the final year of his contract, Dallas has failed to extend head coach Mike McCarthy. Jones took a strong approach to his position as well, although he did offer some compliments, stating that he is more than delighted with the work they have done.

Despite his happiness with his team’s regular-season performance, Jones is clearly disappointed with their lack of playoff success.

He believes that the sense of urgency caused by a lack of job security can be motivating. It might also backfire on him, as it has done with Prescott before.

Prescott, who is already on track to become the highest-paid player in the NFL, is not eligible for a tag this offseason owing to a condition in his current contract.

That might spark an intense bidding war, making Jones wish he had talked more before the season.
