After finally reaching an agreement on a contract extension for CeeDee Lamb, the Dallas Cowboys were left with Dak Prescott’s predicament to address.

Prescott, like Lamb, was due for a big payout after the last few years, but the organization seems unwilling to pay him the going rate for quarterbacks.

Dallas eventually succumbed and signed Prescott to a four-year, $240 million contract, tying him to the organization for the foreseeable future.

The amount of guaranteed money in the deal makes him the highest-paid player in NFL history, which is surprising given his lack of playoff success.

Fans may be dissatisfied with the final dollar number, and Skip Bayless put up his feelings, as well as those of many of the fanbase, perfectly on his personal X account.

“Jerry Jones just made a QB who has stunk in 3 straight playoff losses – who is 2-5 in playoff games – the highest paid player in NFL history.

This is why Jerry’s Dallas Cowboys have not even made it to an NFC Championship game in going on 30 years. Now I’m … STUCK WITH DAK,” Bayless posted.

It may sound harsh coming from Bayless, but the concerns are valid, since Prescott has yet to shown his ability to lead a club to a Super Bowl victory.

However, the Cowboys have no viable alternatives in this position and are now relying on Prescott to fulfill his contract obligations. He’ll have a chance to show himself in Week 1 against the Cleveland Browns, but it will be a difficult test.
