In the game, Prescott completed 19 of 32 passes for 179 yards and threw a touchdown. His performance was so effective that he didn’t need to play heavily in the second half. After the game, Prescott expressed his commitment to living up to the expectations set by his new deal, stating, “It’s about holding up my end of the deal,” as reported by the Associated Press.
Prescott’s extension comes shortly after another key player, wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, secured his future with the Cowboys by signing a four-year, $136 million contract. Lamb, who missed all of training camp due to a contract dispute, recently ended a lengthy standoff with the team. The 25-year-old receiver was named to his first All-Pro First Team last season, solidifying his importance to the Cowboys’ offense.
Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy was asked about managing the distractions surrounding Prescott’s massive contract. He responded with humor, noting that the team has experience dealing with such situations. “The timing was different, but he (Prescott) handled it well,” McCarthy remarked.
