The 2024 NFL season has begun, and teams have already experienced changes. Injuries have impacted rosters, making trades crucial for maintaining momentum. The San Francisco 49ers are one of those teams.

San Francisco started strong by defeating the New York Jets but faced a setback in Week Two with a loss to the Minnesota Vikings.

In addition to losing the game, they saw their star wide receiver Deebo Samuel sustain a calf strain, sidelining him for several weeks. With Aiyuk struggling to handle increased defensive attention, the 49ers can’t depend on Jauan Jennings to fill the gap.

This is why the 49ers should pursue a trade for rising star receiver Jameson Williams from the Detroit Lions. In 2024, Williams has recorded 10 receptions for 200 yards and a touchdown.

Known for his quick separation and sharp route running, Williams would give Brock Purdy a reliable deep threat and a long-term option.

Though Williams is excelling, it might seem hard for Detroit to part with him. However, the Lions have a pressing need at cornerback, and the 49ers have depth in that area.

Players like Rock Ya-Sin or Renardo Green could be trade options to strengthen Detroit’s secondary and address their defensive concerns for the rest of the season.
