In their Week 5 encounter with the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Dallas Cowboys will be without their two best pass rushers, Micah Parsons and DeMarcus Lawrence. Parsons had a sprain to his high ankle, and Lawrence sustained a sprain to his mid-foot. Both injuries were more serious than the Cowboys’ medical staff had anticipated, according to head coach Mike McCarthy, and it is now believed that both players will miss at least the next two games before the team’s bye weeks. The Cowboys’ current active roster includes depth players Tyrus Wheat and Chauncey Goldston, as well as rookie Marshawn Kneeland, who might assist replace the stars.

Despite hopes that Parsons would rejoin the Cowboys following their Week 7 bye week, one or both players might realistically wind up on injured reserve and miss the next four games.

The Steelers’ prospects of rushing the ball and defending Justin Fields are increased by not facing Lawrence or Parsons, tackles who are still attempting to settle in or establish the validity of their season’s start. The Cowboys are now 2-2, but they are in a terrible situation due to injuries and an upcoming difficult schedule.
