Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott used two key words to describe the team following their Week 5 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The Dallas Cowboys walked away from Acrisure Stadium on October 6 with a 20-17 victory against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The win came in dramatic fashion, with Prescott connecting on a touchdown pass to wide receiver Jalen Tolbert with just 20 seconds left, completing a 70-yard drive that sealed the victory.
After the game, Prescott summed up the Cowboys’ effort in two strong words.

Prescott described the team’s performance and their ability to pull off the late win as “persistence” and “resilience.”
“The team really showed that on the final drive,” Prescott said during a press conference after the October 6 game.
On the touchdown pass to Tolbert, Prescott remarked, “Fortunately, we had the fourth down, and it was special to get it back to Tolbert. He did a fantastic job finding space, and the offensive line held up, giving me time to stay in the pocket.”
Prescott also acknowledged the team’s mistakes, particularly his interception just before halftime.
“We just wanted another chance,” he said. “I was upset about the two-minute drive before half, especially throwing an interception when we could’ve easily gotten three points, if not a touchdown. Two-minute drills are something I love, so getting back in, down by four, knowing we needed a touchdown, was big.”
Prescott credited the Cowboys for practicing high-pressure scenarios, like the final-minute touchdown, and being prepared in critical moments.
“We work on that a lot,” he said. “Probably more than most teams, so we’re all very comfortable in those situations with the plays called. Whether it was my run getting us to the half-yard line or Rico (Dowdle) trying to jump over the top, it’s all about following the ball. Those situations in practice keep coming up in games.”
Cowboys Focus on the Detroit Lions
Next, the Cowboys will face the Detroit Lions on October 13 at home. After the Steelers win, head coach Mike McCarthy said the team’s attention immediately shifted to the Lions.
“We’re focused on the Lions now,” McCarthy said in an October 7 press conference. “We’ve turned the page. Mondays are for preparation. We have a big challenge ahead. We need to win at home. We’ve been strong at home before, and we need to get that first home win. We’ve emphasized winning on the road, but now it’s time to do it at home.”
