Some players will face obstacles and others will have opportunities in the Cowboys’ Week 6 game against Detroit. When Dallas plays the Lions, who has a chance to have a successful game and who, statistically speaking, could have a bad week?
GET WR CeeDee Lamb

The Lions are 3-1, but they have shown respect to the top receivers on their opponents. Here are some of Lamb’s colleagues’ results from this season’s games against Detroit:

D.K. Metcalf (SEA): seven repetitions, 105 yards
Marvin Harrison Jr. (ARI): 1, 64 yards, 5 receptions
Chris Godwin (TB): 1 TD, 117 yards, 7 receptions
Cooper Kupp (LAR): 110 yards, 1 touchdown, 14 returns

Although Lamb and quarterback Dak Prescott’s chemistry has not been as productive as it was in past seasons, Lamb is still on track to gain over 1,000 yards. This week presents an opportunity for #88 to have a genuine breakout performance this season, particularly in the spotlight of an important NFC encounter.

It will most likely need to happen at the throw point if Detroit hopes to prevent Lamb from having a great outing. However, if the performance of other seasoned quarterbacks versus the Lions is any guide…
QB Dak Prescott

Prescott, who now leads the NFL in passing yards, may inflate his numbers in this game. Just this past week, we had Geno Smith smash 395 yards against Detroit in Week 4, and Matthew Stafford go 317 yards in Week 1. Due in large part to their five sacks and intense pressure on the Tampa Bay quarterback, the Lions were able to hold Baker Mayfield to only 185 yards in Week 2.

Compared to the rest of the NFL, Prescott’s protection this year has been mediocre; in five games, he has given up 12 sacks. It will be significant whether or not LT Tyler Guyton plays well this week and returns to his post. But on Sunday, if Dallas can maintain enough pressure on their quarterback,

Cowboys DBs

Jared Goff of the Lions has thrown four interceptions in as many games this season. Dallas should get back Caelen Carson for this game and still has Trevon Diggs and Jourdan Lewis. In the past three games, S Malik Hooker has dropped two interceptions; earlier in the season, Carson had a few near ones as well. Goff gives the Cowboys a good chance to give up a defensive lapse in a game where they most likely need a significant one to win.
BUY TE Ferguson, Jake

Detroit is defense has shut down tight ends so far this season. Week 1 saw Colby Parkinson of the Rams have the best performance with four catches for 47 yards. The same combination that has prevented opposing TEs from getting off the field all season will be in action, with Lions safety Kerby Joseph anticipated to play following a hamstring injury.

Cowboys play defense.

Although things have improved significantly over the past two weeks, Dallas will now be missing veteran LB Eric Kendricks, which may be rather detrimental. Aside from his great performances, Kendricks was the defense’s signal-caller and might have been especially helpful against the former Vikings’ archrival in the NFC North.

Because David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs can both injure you in different ways, Detroit is two-headed attack is extremely effective. In Detroit is most recent game, Montgomery had a 40-yard reception; this is not the shiftier Gibbs that you may anticipate. The two players are interchangeable, allowing the Lions to keep their offensive unpredictable. This Sunday is going to be quite busy for Mike Zimmer.
