The Detroit Lions secured a commanding win over the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday. Unfortunately, this victory was overshadowed by a season-ending leg injury to star edge rusher Aidan Hutchinson. In response, Detroit has signed a Bengals player, though it’s not who fans might have anticipated.

According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the Lions will sign defensive end Isaiah Thomas from the Bengals practice squad. A former seventh-round pick by the Browns, Thomas will join Detroit’s rotation to aid their pass rush.

Drafted by Cleveland in 2022, Thomas was seen as a raw talent with strong physical traits but fell in the draft due to concerns over his consistency and technique. During his rookie year, he appeared in 10 games, recording nine tackles, one sack, and one fumble recovery.

The Lions are hoping Thomas can develop into a valuable player. It’s unclear if they will seek additional help for their defensive line following Hutchinson’s injury.

Hutchinson sustained a broken tibia during Detroit’s 47-9 win and was taken to the hospital for surgery. He will remain in Dallas until he can return to Michigan.

The Hutchinson family shared a message via Instagram, thanking everyone for their support and noting that Aidan’s surgery was successful. “He is embracing the Detroit motto: resurget cineribus… He will rise from the ashes,” the statement said.
