Following a 47-9 loss to the Detroit Lions in Week 6, Jones appeared on 105.3 The Fan’s “Shan & RJ” show Tuesday morning, where he criticized the hosts for their questioning.

After backlash on social media for what many saw as an unnecessary attack, the 82-year-old tried to explain himself to Dianna Russini and Jon Machota of The Athletic.

His attempt at an apology was insufficient, and one of the radio co-hosts responded to Jones on social media Tuesday night.

“Is this real life??? I WISH Jerry Jones paid me. He insults us again, and we’ve had bigger issues in our 14 years. I don’t understand what’s going on. Full thoughts tomorrow morning,” tweeted Shan Shariff on October 15, 2024.

Shariff continued: “One more thing before I unload tomorrow: I may not have Jerry’s old football connections, but I saw what was coming after his ridiculous offseason. You don’t want to engage with real fans.”

With a 3-3 start (0-3 at home) and coming off their worst home defeat since 1988, Jones chose a bad time to lash out at the Dallas media.

Though called “America’s Team,” the Cowboys haven’t won a Super Bowl since 1995. After three titles in Jones’ first seven years, Dallas hasn’t reached the Super Bowl or a conference championship despite 13 playoff appearances.

Their schedule won’t ease up post-bye, facing the 49ers (3-3) and Falcons (4-2) on the road in Weeks 8 and 9, followed by home games against the Eagles (3-2) and Texans (5-1) in Weeks 10 and 11, then a trip to Washington to face the Commanders (4-2) in Week 12.
