The Dallas Cowboys are gearing up for a critical game against the San Francisco 49ers this Sunday. With a record of 3-3, Dallas aims to stay competitive with the Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Commanders in the NFC East.

However, just days before this pivotal matchup, the Cowboys faced some tough news.

According to Jon Machota of The Athletic, tight end John Stephens suffered a knee injury during practice that will end his season. ESPN’s Todd Archer reported that Stephens tore his ACL.

This marks the second consecutive time Stephens has torn his ACL; he sustained the same injury last preseason. An undrafted player last year, he was vying for a spot on the Cowboys’ roster when the injury occurred, and he has yet to appear in a regular-season game. His father, John Stephens, was the Patriots’ first-round pick in 1988 and won the NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Year award that year.
