The Dallas Cowboys offense has faced numerous struggles in 2024, managing only a 3-3 record and no home wins.
They may seek a trade before the November 5 deadline to improve their performance.
The Cowboys’ ground game has been disappointing. Colton Edwards of FanSided identified the team as a possible destination for Arizona Cardinals’ running back James Conner.
“The Dallas Cowboys are probably the only team in the NFL that has a critical need at running back,” Edwards noted. “Adding a player like Conner, who can handle a large workload and serve as a three-down back, would benefit Dak Prescott.”
Currently, the Cowboys rank last in rushing yards, yards per attempt, and rushing touchdowns. They are also the only team without a rush longer than 20 yards. This lack of a running game limits their offense, allowing opponents to focus on defending the pass.
Conner, a two-time Pro Bowl selection, signed a three-year, $21 million contract with the Cardinals in 2022. Given the Cardinals’ record and his age, they may consider a trade.
“The Cardinals stand at 3-4 but lack the depth to compete for a playoff spot,” Edwards wrote. “After drafting Trey Benson, they may explore trading Conner as part of their rebuild. With Conner set to enter free agency after 2024 at age 29, the timing could be right for a move.”
