Tennessee Titans wide receiver Tyler Boyd (83) can't get to the pass he nearly caught in New York Jets traffic on fourth down late in the fourth quarter of their game at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tenn., Sunday, Sept. 15, 2024. The Titans turned the ball over on downs with just seconds to go in the game.

The Tennessee Titans, currently struggling with a 1-6 record, are likely to consider trading wide receiver Tyler Boyd, despite having signed him this offseason to strengthen their receiving corps. Originally drafted in 2016, Boyd was expected to contribute as a reliable slot receiver for quarterback Will Levis. However, with the Titans’ offense underperforming and Boyd managing only 184 receiving yards without a touchdown, it may be best for him to join a team with playoff aspirations.

As the Titans shift focus toward younger talent, they appear inclined to retain Treylon Burks as a core piece for the future. Although Burks has been involved in trade discussions, the team may prioritize developing homegrown receivers around Levis. Trading Boyd, while weakening their receiving options, could yield valuable draft capital that the Titans can invest in their long-term strategy, especially if they continue to falter.

The New Orleans Saints, having recently extended Alvin Kamara and signed Marquez Valdes-Scantling, are also eyeing a potential trade for Boyd to bolster their playoff chances. Coach Dennis Allen faces pressure to secure a postseason berth, making a move for a reliable slot receiver crucial. With Derek Carr set to return, adding Boyd could provide him with another dependable target to aid in navigating a struggling offensive line.

Meanwhile, the Kansas City Chiefs are monitoring the trade market as they look to enhance their passing game. Despite acquiring DeAndre Hopkins, the Chiefs are aware of the need for depth and reliability at wide receiver. Boyd could fill a crucial role as a dependable WR4, allowing Patrick Mahomes to have a consistent option for quick passes, especially with other receivers’ futures uncertain.

In summary, both the Saints and the Chiefs are potential landing spots for Boyd, who could thrive in a more competitive environment. As the Titans consider a firesale to rebuild, Boyd’s skills as a veteran receiver could be the key to unlocking better offensive performance for teams looking to make a playoff push.
