The Dallas Cowboys took a chance early in the second half when they attempted a fake punt from their own 38-yard line, behind by just four points.

For the remainder of the game, this choice changed the Cowboys’ chances of a comeback. Kirk Cousins’ three touchdown passes put the ball on the Cowboys’ side of the field, and the Atlanta Falcons took advantage of the situation less than three minutes later.

In their 27-21 setback, the Cowboys were suddenly behind by two scores, casting considerable doubt on their chances to salvage the season.Dallas, now 3-5, has lost three straight games for the first time since a four-game losing streak in 2020. Coach Mike McCarthy was concerned after the team’s nine penalties for 55 yards, running back Ezekiel Elliott did not travel to Atlanta, and two other important players, wide receiver DeeDee Lamb and quarterback Dak Prescott, left the game due to injuries.

We must win a match,” McCarthy stated. “I am aware of the long-term topics that everyone wants to discuss. Given that we have suffered five losses, we are well aware of where we stand and what is required. We need to start winning.

Too many of our injuries are self-inflicted, and some of them were completely inappropriate pre-snap penalties.

One may easily interpret the unsuccessful fake punt as just another error on the team’s part. On the fourth-and-two try, C.J. Godwin slipped, making the pass from punter Bryan Anger incomplete. Given the field position and the close score (the Falcons were ahead 14–10), the call was unexpected.

When they took a two-score lead, McCarthy remarked, “The fake punt was a matchup we felt strong about going into the game.”

The decision to retain Elliott in Dallas “was obviously a team discipline situation,” McCarthy admitted. On Monday, we will pick you up and check in. Prescott said he hopes the team can help Elliott through this difficult period.

It is undoubtedly a challenging circumstance, and since I am so close to him, I want to

“Just getting himself together,” he would say. I want to simply support him and act like the brothers and teammates that we are; positive things will happen as a result.
In the second half, CeeDee Lamb tries to catch the ball.

Now, learning more about the hamstring ailment that kept him out of the fourth quarter is Prescott’s first priority. “I felt a pull, something I have never felt,” he said. Monday is set aside for an MRI to determine the extent of the injuries.

Prescott remarked, “Walking on it was a tough deal.” “I am aware of how much this one was required. My goal was to simply go out there and battle, to compete.”It will take a lot for me to not be out there” in the home game against Philadelphia on Sunday, he continued. Despite suffering a right shoulder injury, Lamb was able to return towards the end of the game.
