Brian Branch was ejected from the Detroit Lions’ 24-14 victory over the Green Bay Packers after delivering a dangerous helmet-to-helmet hit on Packers receiver Bo Melton. The ejection raised questions about the decision-making process, as it appeared to come not from the on-field officials, but from the replay review center in New York.

Lions head coach Dan Campbell commented on the situation after the game, expressing respect for the officiating crew led by referee Clete Blakeman. He mentioned that the only explanation he received was that the decision originated from the league office in New York. Campbell noted this was his first experience with an ejection of this nature as a head coach.

The incident also included Branch making an obscene gesture toward the Packers sideline while leaving the field, leading to speculation about whether he might face additional punishment from the league. However, it remains too early to determine what further actions might be taken.

Despite the controversy surrounding Branch’s ejection, the Lions celebrated their victory, which improved their record to 6-1 for the season
