With rainy conditions at Lambeau Field on Sunday, it was clear the matchup between the Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers wouldn’t be clean or pretty. For the Lions, this marked their first outdoor game of the season.
Detroit handled the wet conditions better than Green Bay, defeating the Packers 24-14. Dan Campbell outcoached Matt LaFleur, whose Packers struggled to find rhythm.
Packers Coach Matt LaFleur Commends Lions’ Superior Play
After the game, Packers head coach Matt LaFleur shared his thoughts on the team’s struggles with reporters, acknowledging Detroit’s cleaner performance. LaFleur told Matt Schneidman of The Athletic:
“They played a clean game, much cleaner than we did.”
The Packers suffered one turnover and failed on a fourth-down attempt. In contrast, the Lions committed no turnovers. Jordan Love threw another interception returned for a touchdown, while Jared Goff continued his season of precise passing and touchdown throws.
Bye Week Approaching
Although the Packers enter the bye at 6-3, the team has issues to address. Meanwhile, the Lions, now 7-1, are leading the NFC North and look set for a division win. Green Bay will use the bye to help Jordan Love address his turnover issues.
The second half of the season will reveal if adjustments make a difference, with the Chicago Bears next on Green Bay’s schedule.
