The Pittsburgh Steelers have re-signed offensive tackle Dylan Cook to their practice squad, the team announced on Monday. With this move, the Steelers now have 17 players on their practice squad and will need to make another roster adjustment if they wish to add more players. Cook’s return comes after the team released him last week, just one day after activating him from injured reserve.

Cook had been sidelined since suffering a lisfranc injury during the Steelers’ joint practice with the Buffalo Bills in August. After spending several weeks recovering, he has now participated in practice for the last two weeks, and the team feels he is ready to contribute if needed. However, Cook will have to be elevated from the practice squad if he is to be added to the active roster.

Currently, the Steelers have three primary offensive tackles on their roster: Broderick Jones, Dan Moore Jr., and Calvin Anderson. Additionally, Spencer Anderson is available as a versatile option, capable of playing both tackle and interior positions, adding some extra depth to the offensive line.

Cook was originally claimed off waivers by the Steelers from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last year. Although he spent the entire 2023 season on the Bucs’ active roster, he saw action in just one game, as there were few injuries along the offensive line that would have required his playing time.
