The Eagles’ grip on the NFC East became even firmer after another questionable move by Jerry Jones and the Cowboys, who awkwardly traded a fourth-round pick for the underperforming young Panthers wide receiver Jonathan Mingo.

Dallas gave up more draft capital than Kansas City did for DeAndre Hopkins or Baltimore did for Diontae Johnson, making it clear that this trade was a misstep. While Mingo could potentially develop into a useful player, this trade feels more like a panic move from a franchise desperately trying to stay relevant.

Meanwhile, Howie Roseman and the Eagles’ front office are well-positioned to not only capture the division title but also make a serious playoff run. The Cowboys, however, appear to be heading nowhere, and their season seems effectively over.

Cowboys Trade for Panthers WR Jonathan Mingo

This deal has to be considered a major blunder by Jones. Mingo has failed to record a catch in his last three games and has just 12 receptions on the season. He’s not even close to the caliber of wide receivers like Amari Cooper, DeAndre Hopkins, or Diontae Johnson, yet Dallas traded similar compensation for him.

Jones’ mismanagement of Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb’s contract situations had already raised concerns about his decision-making. Instead of locking up these players with early extensions, he waited until market prices soared, leaving the Cowboys with two of the NFL’s most expensive contracts and a 3-5 record on a season that’s slipping away.

A similar pattern emerged with Mingo. Jones could have secured him weeks earlier for a lower cost, but instead, he waited until all the other teams had already made their moves, leaving the Cowboys with nothing but regret.

The disparity between the two organizations couldn’t be more apparent. While Roseman and the Eagles are gearing up for another playoff push with championship aspirations, the Cowboys find themselves, once again, at a crossroads.
