The Detroit Lions sit at 7-1, enjoying a six-game winning streak after defeating the Green Bay Packers 24-14 last Sunday.

This win differed from their previous ones, as the offense only scored 17 points against Green Bay’s strengthened defense. Previously, the Lions had averaged 38.4 points across their last five games.

This time, however, the defense took charge, limiting the Packers’ offense. Notably, Kerby Joseph scored on a Jordan Love interception return.

Detroit’s defense excelled even without safety Brian Branch, who was ejected for an illegal hit on Packers wide receiver Bo Melton.

On Saturday, Branch received a substantial fine from the NFL, sparking strong reactions from fans.

Branch was ejected for lowering his helmet to hit Melton after an incomplete pass. The replay officials in New York, not the on-field referees, made this call.As he exited, Branch gave a double gesture to Packers fans, earning an additional unsportsmanlike conduct penalty.

He was fined for both incidents:

Many Lions fans voiced frustration on social media, arguing Branch shouldn’t have been fined or ejected.

Luckily for Detroit, Branch avoided suspension. The team is already missing Aiden Hutchinson, who broke his leg in their recent victory over the Cowboys.
