The Detroit Lions won their game against the Houston Texans, but quarterback Jared Goff felt the need to clarify his mindset after throwing multiple interceptions.
In the Lions’ recent win against the Texans, Jared Goff threw five interceptions. While the team managed to secure another road victory, Goff explained his perspective on the situation and how he handled the game’s challenges.
Following the game, Goff emphasized that he didn’t lose confidence despite the interceptions, saying, “I never lost confidence because I felt I was making the right decisions on most plays.”
He also mentioned he didn’t feel his overall performance was poor: “I honestly don’t think I was playing that badly. There were some unlucky moments, but I’ve been through much worse. A few unfortunate plays aren’t going to shake me.”
Goff acknowledged the Lions’ defense as a key factor in the 26-23 win: “Our defense really saved us; they were incredible all game.” He shared that he encouraged his offensive teammates to remain positive until they could shift the game’s momentum.
Goff Commends Jake Bates
After kicker Jake Bates secured the win with a 58-yard field goal, Goff praised Bates, saying, “He’s kicking as well as anyone in the league right now.
We watch him hit long ones in practice regularly, so we’re aware of his range. Both his kicks looked strong from well beyond where they were taken.”
