After the Houston Texans’ loss to the Detroit Lions on “Sunday Night Football” in Week 10, rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud spoke candidly about the team’s turnover issues and the adjustments he plans to make moving forward. Stroud’s focus was clear: improving ball security to give the Texans the best chance to win against tough opponents.

“Turnovers are a huge part of the game, and unfortunately, we had a few too many of those tonight,” Stroud said in the post-game press conference. “That’s on me, and it’s on us as an offense. We know we can play better than we did, and it starts with making sure we’re taking care of the ball.”

Stroud was responsible for a couple of interceptions during the game, and he didn’t shy away from taking accountability. The young quarterback admitted that he could have made better decisions on some plays but emphasized that he and his teammates would work hard to address those mistakes.

“There were a few plays where I forced the ball or tried to make something happen when it wasn’t there,” Stroud explained. “You learn from those moments. This is the NFL, and these defenses are too good to take those kinds of risks. It’s about knowing when to throw it away and live for the next down.”

Despite the challenging night, Stroud remained positive about his development and the Texans’ future. He credited the Lions’ defense for capitalizing on opportunities and underscored the importance of adjusting to the speed and complexity of NFL defenses each week.

“Detroit has a great defense, and they did a good job reading what we were trying to do,” he said. “But that’s part of the game. Every week, we see something new, and it’s on us to adapt and learn. I know I’ll take a lot away from this game and be better because of it.”

Stroud also acknowledged the support from his teammates and coaching staff, noting that the Texans are committed to improving as a unit. He expressed confidence that they would use this loss as a learning experience to strengthen their offense.

“We’re all learning together, and we’re all in this together,” he said. “Coach Ryans and the staff have been great in helping me grow, and I know that we’re just getting started. We’ll clean things up and get back to work. It’s a process, but I believe in this team, and I believe in myself.”

Stroud’s reflections after the game show his maturity and commitment to elevating his game, offering Texans fans optimism for the future.
