Detroit Lions left tackle Taylor Decker addressed the media on Wednesday, sharing insights about the shoulder injury that sidelined him for the Lions’ Week 10 game against the Houston Texans.
Decker explained that he sustained a rotator cuff strain in practice, aggravating a previous shoulder condition, which included a past surgery for a torn labrum.
Details of the Injury
“It happened during practice, yeah. Rotator cuff strain, and I’ve had shoulder surgery on this shoulder before with the labrum,” Decker told MLive. “I just irritated the labrum a bit, and the week before, I had a pec strain on the same side. I know the play it happened on, but it could be a compensation issue or something. Hopefully, it’s not a long-term concern.”
Decker also discussed his impact on the Lions’ offensive struggles during the first half against the Texans, expressing personal responsibility for some of the challenges.
Looking Ahead to Week 11
Despite the setback, Decker remains hopeful about playing in the Lions’ Week 11 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. “I plan to play this Sunday against the Jaguars,” Decker said, indicating his commitment to a swift recovery and return.
Decker’s leadership and role on the offensive line have been crucial to the Lions’ success this season. His optimism and resolve to play highlight his readiness to support the team as they aim to continue their strong performance.
