The Detroit Lions could soon experience significant changes in their front office, with recent reports indicating that an AFC team might target one of their key executives and pair him with offensive coordinator Ben Johnson to form a new leadership duo.

Jaguars Preparing to Make Moves

NFL analyst Chad Forbes has predicted that the Jacksonville Jaguars will target Mike Disner, the Lions’ chief operating officer, to replace Trent Baalke as their general manager. Disner, a veteran of the Lions’ front office, has been with the team for several years, and his potential departure could create a major shake-up in Detroit’s organizational structure.

Forbes also speculated that Disner’s first big decision in Jacksonville would be to hire Ben Johnson as the Jaguars’ next head coach. Johnson, widely praised for his work with the Lions’ offense, has already been a top contender for head coaching roles in the past, and his close connection with Disner could make this move even more likely.

Why Disner and Johnson?

Disner has played an important role in the Lions’ successful rebuilding process under general manager Brad Holmes and has drawn interest from other teams before. Last year, the Carolina Panthers considered hiring him as their general manager, but Disner withdrew his name from consideration. Forbes believes that this time Disner will make the jump to Jacksonville, and with him, bring Johnson as the team’s new head coach to build on his success.

Although the prospect of losing both a key executive and a highly regarded coordinator would be a blow to the Lions, it also speaks to the organization’s growing success. The Lions have built a strong reputation for developing both talent on the field and in the front office, making them an attractive destination for executives and coaches alike.

What About Aaron Glenn?

In addition to the potential departures of key front office personnel and offensive staff, Forbes also predicts that Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn, who has been gaining significant attention, will be named the next head coach of the New Orleans Saints. Given Glenn’s prior coaching experience with the Saints, this move appears to be a natural fit. Glenn is even considered a frontrunner for the position in New Orleans.

As the 2024-2025 NFL season unfolds, Detroit fans will be keeping a close eye on these developments, as the Jaguars look to revamp their leadership while the Lions face the challenge of replacing key figures in their organization.
