The Detroit Lions’ rushing offense achieved a remarkable milestone on Sunday, setting a new NFL record.
Facing the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Lions scored three rushing touchdowns—all in the first half.
Including playoff games, the Lions have now scored a rushing touchdown in 24 consecutive games, an NFL record confirmed by the league’s official Twitter account.
The streak began during an October 2023 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Notably, Jahmyr Gibbs missed that game due to injury, while David Montgomery exited early after getting hurt mid-game.
Since then, Gibbs and Montgomery have been unstoppable. This season, they’ve combined for 18 rushing touchdowns in just 9.5 games, with both players ranking in the top five league-wide for rushing scores.
Nicknamed “Sonic” and “Knuckles,” the duo is making a strong case as the NFL’s best running back tandem—and possibly the best in Lions history.
