Detroit Lions to Host Fan Events in Ontario as Part of Global Markets Program
The Detroit Lions, recently granted marketing rights for Canada under the NFL’s Global Markets Program, are set to host their first-ever fan events in Ontario. These public gatherings are part of the team’s efforts to expand its presence and engage with Canadian fans.
“We are excited to bring these fan events to Ontario this season,” said Emily Griffin, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Brand for the Detroit Lions. “The Lions have a dedicated and passionate fan base in Canada, particularly in Windsor, and they have been a key part of our community since the team’s inception. This is an exciting opportunity to connect with them, especially during our historic 2024 season.”

The NFL’s Global Markets Program, launched in 2022, grants international marketing rights to NFL teams, allowing them to grow their brand and engage with fans outside the U.S. Teams with international rights can host events, expand their commercial opportunities, and build lasting fan connections in these global markets. The program awards these rights for a minimum of five years, with clubs pursuing activities that mirror what they do in their home markets.
