The Detroit Lions continued their impressive season with a 24-6 victory over the Indianapolis Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium on Sunday, improving to a 10-1 record. The Lions took control early, leading 14-6 at halftime, and maintained their dominance in the second half. While the performance wasn’t their most spectacular of the season, it was notable for a historic achievement.

Detroit’s running game, anchored by the powerful offensive line and a dynamic duo of David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs, played a key role in the victory. The Lions outrushed the Colts 137-96 and scored three rushing touchdowns—two from Gibbs and one from Montgomery. This helped the team set an NFL record that hadn’t been broken since the league’s inception in 1920.

Following the game, the NFL’s communications department highlighted the Lions’ accomplishment in its weekly “Seven From Sunday” column, noting that Detroit had now rushed for a touchdown in 25 consecutive games, the longest streak in NFL history, including playoffs. This streak surpassed the 1974-76 Miami Dolphins, who held the previous record at 22 games. The Lions now trail only the Green Bay Packers (35 games, 1959-1962) and the San Francisco 49ers (2003-2005) for the longest regular-season rushing touchdown streaks in league history.
