San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan provided updates on the team’s roster ahead of their first full practice of the week, as they prepare for a crucial Week 13 matchup against the Buffalo Bills. The main focus remains on quarterback Brock Purdy, who was sidelined for the 49ers’ 38-10 loss to the Green Bay Packers in Week 12 due to a shoulder injury. Shanahan stated that Purdy would be limited in practice on Wednesday as he works his way back into the lineup, but the extent of his participation would be determined on the field.

While Purdy’s status is uncertain, the 49ers are also managing a number of injuries to key players. Defensive end Nick Bosa, who is dealing with an oblique and hip injury, and left tackle Trent Williams, who is recovering from an ankle issue, will not practice on Wednesday after missing the Packers game. Both are significant absences for the team.

Running back Christian McCaffrey is getting a rest day as part of the team’s injury management plan, and cornerback Deommodore Lenoir will also miss practice after suffering a knee injury during the Green Bay game. However, Shanahan remains hopeful that Lenoir will be able to play on Sunday against the Bills, stating that they are not ruling him out for the week.

Offensive linemen Aaron Banks and Dominick Puni are both dealing with injuries. Banks remains in the NFL’s concussion protocol, while Puni is managing a shoulder issue. Defensive tackle Kevin Givens is also dealing with a groin injury and will be a limited participant in practice. Meanwhile, defensive tackle Jordan Elliott is still in concussion protocol, and his availability for Sunday’s game is uncertain.

Linebacker Dre Greenlaw is expected to return to practice this week for the first time since tearing his Achilles in February. Greenlaw will be limited in his participation as the 49ers begin the process of easing him back into action after a long recovery.

In addition to the injury updates, wide receiver Jacob Cowing has been cleared from the concussion protocol and is expected to be a full participant in practice this week. Cowing’s return adds depth to the 49ers’ receiving corps as they head into a pivotal stretch of the season.

With key players sidelined or limited, the 49ers will need to continue managing their injuries carefully as they prepare for the upcoming Week 13 matchup. The team will likely monitor Purdy’s shoulder injury closely, as his health is critical to the 49ers’ success moving

forward.
