Caleb Williams was understandably upset about a near-disaster during the third quarter of Thursday’s game.

The Chicago Bears quarterback was hit on a contentious play by Detroit Lions linebacker Jack Campbell as he scrambled to pick up a first down.

Near the sideline, Campbell delivered a hit above Williams’ left knee, causing the quarterback to collapse awkwardly on the ground.

Surprisingly, Williams, who underwent evaluation in the medical tent, returned to the game without missing a snap and threw three second-half touchdowns for the Bears.

After Chicago’s eventual 23-20 loss, Williams addressed the incident, expressing frustration with Campbell’s actions.

“My knee’s fine,” Williams said, according to PFT. “That play was funky, to say the least. I didn’t appreciate it. He kind of dove straight at my knee. I didn’t really understand that.

“Definitely frustrating,” Williams continued. “The knee’s fine. Just a bruise, nothing serious. But that play was funky.”

While Williams may have been upset about the tackle, it was a legal hit, as he was an active runner who failed to slide or surrender. Ultimately, Williams’ poor clock management played a significant role in the Bears’ loss.
