Although many Dallas Cowboys fans may not agree, quarterback Dak Prescott believes that head coach Mike McCarthy deserves another opportunity.
The controversy began last month when team owner Jerry Jones suggested the possibility of renewing McCarthy’s contract despite the team’s 5-7 record. Prescott was asked about this comment on Tuesday, and the injured quarterback expressed support for his coach.
“I have full faith in him,” Prescott told Yahoo! Sports’ Jori Epstein. “I don’t want to get into all the details, but I definitely think he deserves another shot—another contract, and a chance to lead this team with more autonomy. Maybe ‘on his terms’ is the best way to put it.”
Prescott emphasized his strong belief in McCarthy’s abilities.
McCarthy’s recent victory brought his regular season win total to 172, tying him with Pro Football Hall of Famer Bill Parcells, a former Dallas head coach, for 14th place on the NFL’s all-time coaching wins list.
