Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff has once again been named a finalist for the prestigious Walter Payton Man of the Year Award.
The award recognizes players who excel both on the field and in making a positive impact off it, according to the Lions’ announcement on Thursday.
“Once again, I am humbled to receive this nomination. My work off the field is deeply connected to my desire and responsibility to give back to my communities.
To be a source of inspiration with the influence that I have is something I take seriously. Myself, my platform, and our partners remain committed to exemplifying the great values this recognition and award represents,” Goff said.
In response, Goff’s wife, Christen, shared her pride on social media, posting a simple two-word message: “So proud!” on Instagram, alongside the Lions’ announcement.
The Lions detailed Goff’s impactful community work that earned him his second nomination for the award.
Goff, passionate about education, began collaborating in 2022 with Detroit’s Give Merit FATE program. This initiative helps Detroit youth understand the value of education through real-life business projects.
Each year, Goff works with students from the program to design items for his JG16 clothing line. Sales of the apparel fund scholarships for the student designers, with Goff matching 100% of the sales. Any extra funds go to the FATE scholarship fund, aiding additional Detroit students. In
