Detroit Lions rookie cornerback Terrion Arnold has had an up-and-down start to his NFL career, but head coach Dan Campbell believes he’s now showing significant progress.
Arnold, the Lions’ first-round pick out of Alabama, has been a starter since the beginning of the season. Despite some early challenges, Campbell singled out Arnold’s standout performance in the team’s recent win over the Green Bay Packers, calling it his best game of the season. “That was the kind of improvement we were hoping for from him,” Campbell remarked.
The coach also compared Arnold’s development to that of other successful Lions rookies. He acknowledged that many first-year players struggle as the season progresses, with some even experiencing a drop in performance. However, Arnold has shown resilience and is now beginning to turn things around.
Campbell explained, “A lot of rookies, especially those you rely on, tend to hit a rough patch, but the ones who stick with it, they really take off. That’s what we saw with St. Brown in his rookie year. Sewell and Mac went through the same progression. Arnold is now entering that phase, where he’s pushing through and gaining more experience and confidence.”
With the Lions in the thick of the playoff race, Arnold’s continued development could be a critical factor in the team’s success as the season moves forward.
