With the Bills still chasing the Kansas City Chiefs for the No. 1 seed in the AFC, their hunt could be over next week as they travel to Ford Field

The Buffalo Bills got a little reality check in the 44-42 loss to the Los Angeles Rams at SoFi Stadium, with Sean McDermott’s team dropping to 10-3 on the season.

With the Bills still chasing the Kansas City Chiefs for the No. 1 seed in the AFC, their hunt could be over next week as they travel to Ford Field to face the 12-1 Detroit Lions.

The playoffs are only a few weeks away, and the last thing the Bills will want to do is to limp into the playoffs after being so dominant for so long in the regular season. For quarterback Josh Allen, he knows that his team will have its work cut out for itself in trying to tame the Lions.

“They’re the top dog in football right now,” Allen said. “They’re playing extremely well. We have to have a good week, and learn from this one, and put it behind us. That was a good team that we just played [Rams] with a really good quarterback.

They played with urgency. At that point in the season, they’re playing like they have to be in the playoffs right now. You saw that and you felt that from them.”

Despite Allen’s six total touchdowns against the Rams, it still wasn’t enough to claim the win, and now Buffalo must go back to the drawing board quickly and figure out what went wrong in Los Angeles.

If the Rams’ offense can hang 44 on the Bills’ defense, then the Lions’ high-octane offense can easily do the same.

The Bills have been such a force over the last two months, and now we have the first sign of a wobble. While it is only one game, should the Bills lose to the Lions, then things might start to go south, and right on the eve of the playoffs, that’s less than ideal.
