The Detroit Lions are coming off a dramatic 34-31 win over the Green Bay Packers in Week 14, but the team has faced some disciplinary consequences following the game. Two players, Za’Darius Smith and Christian Mahogany, were fined for violations during the match.

Smith was penalized $6,722 for roughing the passer after making contact with Packers quarterback Jordan Love’s head. Even though Smith wasn’t flagged for the hit during the game, the NFL imposed the fine due to the severity of the impact.

Offensive lineman Christian Mahogany was also fined $4,609 for committing a facemask penalty. Mahogany grabbed and twisted the facemask of a Packers defender during a play, which caught the league’s attention.

Despite these fines, both players played key roles in the Lions’ hard-earned victory, which helped them maintain their spot atop the NFC standings. Now, with their sights set on a Week 15 showdown against the Buffalo Bills, these fines highlight the NFL’s ongoing commitment to enforcing player safety regulations.
