Two Detroit Lions players are facing fines following their actions in the team’s game against the Buffalo Bills on December 15. The players involved are linebacker Kwon Alexander and defensive back Brian Branch. Alexander received a fine for an incident with Bills quarterback Josh Allen, while Branch was penalized for unsportsmanlike behavior.
Alexander was fined $6,722 for a “roughing the passer” penalty, which occurred late in the second quarter of the game when he made contact with Allen’s head and neck area. The NFL classified this as roughing the passer. Meanwhile, Branch was fined $10,128 for “taunting” and “unsportsmanlike conduct.” No players from the Buffalo Bills were fined for the game.
Alexander, who joined the Lions in late November after being signed from the Denver Broncos’ practice squad, is a veteran linebacker with nearly a decade of experience in the NFL. His addition to the Lions came after Malcolm Rodriguez suffered an ACL injury. Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn praised Alexander’s work ethic and leadership skills, noting that he is vocal on the field and demonstrates a deep understanding of the game.
Despite the loss to the Bills, the Lions rebounded with a 34-17 win over the Chicago Bears on December 22. This victory marked the team’s first back-to-back win since last season. Head coach Dan Campbell highlighted the team’s resilience, emphasizing the importance of moving past setbacks and maintaining confidence. He credited the Lions’ strong locker room culture, where players continue to compete and improve.
